Chad West, PLLC and RECPTA School Supplies Drive
This month, we wrapped up our third annual School Supplies Drive with the delivery of dozens of boxes of school supplies for the teachers at Hogg and Peeler Elementary Schools in North Oak Cliff. This was our third year to collect supplies for our Oak Cliff kids but for the first time, we partnered with the Rosemont Early Childhood PTA to make it happen.
Earlier this summer, I learned from friends working more directly in the local schools that the majority of children whose families need help purchasing their supplies will receive them from the Mayor’s Back to School Fair. Unfortunately, those supplies only last so long. When the supplies ran out, our local teachers often dig into their own pockets to replenish what’s needed for each child. So, instead of collecting supplies for children, we decided to make our local teachers the beneficiaries.
Our friends, clients and community came through in a big way to make it happen! On Aug. 15, we delivered hundreds of boxes of colored pencils, crayons, rulers, markers, notebooks, folders, glue sticks, construction paper, scissors, folders and notebook paper to Hogg and Peeler Elementary Schools.
Thanks to RECPTA for co-sponsoring this event. Thanks to Benny Guzman and Laura Duarte-Guzman for their hard work building the PTO programs at these two Dallas ISD schools. Thank you to our awesome neighbors at Nice Ice and Cooper’s Meat Market for kindly donating gift cards for our early bird donors!
Finally, a heartfelt thank you to the Chad West, PLLC team for managing the supply drop-off and dealing with the chaos of our community projects without missing a beat for our clients. Whether we’re serving our community with our philanthropy efforts or representing our clients in court, never let it be said that we aren’t nimble and ready to adapt!
